The popularity of Cordyceps extract supplements and products has increased. In recent times due to their multiple benefits. There are about 400 species of cordyceps, but the two most used for nutritional benefits are Cordyceps sinensis and Cordyceps militaris.

The cordyceps mushroom is traditionally used to support fatigue, sickness, kidneys and low sex drive. It is a genus of parasitic fungus that feeds on insect larvae. When these fungi invade their host, they replace tissue and produce long, thin stems outside the body. The fungal remnants are then dried and utilized in traditional Chinese herbal remedies.

The Cordyceps mushroom has a unique sugar that may play a part in the treatment of type 2 diabetes. Research has also shown cordyceps help with inflammation. According to studies, when human cells are exposed to cordyceps, inflammation proteins are decreased. (Weng et al., 2002)
