Garnet is a silicate group of minerals the name Garnet comes from the Latin granatus a grain possibly in reference to malum granatum (pomegranate) a plant with red seeds similar in shape size and colour to some Garnet Crystals. There is a misconception that Garnets are only a red gem but in fact they come in a variety of colours including purple red orange yellow green brown black or colourless.
The word Garnet derives from Gernet meaning “dark red” and the word “Granatus'' meaning grain or seed, in reference to its resemblance to a Pomegranate. Traditionally the Garnet group of minerals is composed of 6 sub-minerals: Almandine, Pyrope, Spessartine, Andradite, Grossular, and Uvaroite. Deposits of Garnet can be found all over the world.
Please Note: Natural gemstone or semi-precious stone comes from mineral. Due to the naturality, the stones may have tiny flaw. Meanwhile, cutting or polishing also makes every piece of gemstone vary in colour and size. Image may look different (colour) due to many monitor or device resolutions.
